MEXC is our top pick for RWA tokens within this nine-platform comparison.

It was the only venue in this comparison where we could verify all five RWA layers on first-party pages, from sector tokens through tokenized equities to real shares.

Key Takeaways

  • MEXC is our top pick here because it was the only platform in this comparison where we could verify all five RWA layers on first-party pages.
  • "RWA tokens" means three different things, and most ranking pages silently answer only one of them.
  • The same company can trade as three separate tokens from three separate issuers, so the exchange you pick decides which wrapper you get.
  • Our two-token sector-coverage sample failed to separate these venues, and we report that as inconclusive rather than dress it up as a ranking.
  • In June 2026 four platforms including MEXC cancelled tokenized SpaceX IPO campaigns and refunded customers after their shared issuer could not deliver the shares.
  • If you need a licensed venue in your jurisdiction, Coinbase and Kraken serve you better than MEXC does.

That is the whole verdict, and the rest of this article is the evidence for it.

The token is easy to buy. The asset behind it is the part nobody checks.

Buying an RWA token takes about ninety seconds on any major exchange.

Working out what actually sits behind it takes considerably longer, and most ranking pages never attempt it.

We looked at what the current top results for this query actually tell a reader.

One ranked eight platforms with a column headed "RWA coverage" whose entries were "10+ tokens", "15+ tokens" and "Limited", with no token names, no method and no measurement date.

The same page quoted one set of spot fees in its comparison table and a different set in the body text for the same exchange.

Another page ranking for this exact phrase no longer compares exchanges at all, having been rewritten to cover fund issuers with minimum subscriptions as high as five million dollars.

Neither answers the question a person searching this phrase is actually asking, which is where to buy and whether the thing behind the token is real.

"RWA Tokens" Means 3 Different Things. Most Rankings Answer One

This is the split that decides everything else, and almost no ranking page makes it.

What people meanExampleWhat you ownWhere you buy it
RWA protocol or sector tokenONDO, PLUME, CFGA project's own token, priced on its prospectsOrdinary spot markets on most exchanges
Tokenized real assetPAXG, XAUT, NVDAON, CRCLXA claim on gold, a share or an ETF held by a custodianA smaller set of exchanges, and the wrapper differs by venue
Issuer fund productOUSG, BUIDL, USTBLA share in a regulated fundThe issuer's own portal, often with accreditation gates

Categories follow CoinGecko's own distinction between RWA protocol tokens and tokenized products. Retrieved 2026-08-26.

Buying ONDO gives you exposure to a company that tokenizes treasuries.

Buying OUSG gives you exposure to the treasuries.

Those are different investments with different risks, and a page that ranks exchanges without separating them is not comparing like with like.

Why MEXC Is Our Top Pick: 5 RWA Layers, 1 Account

Here is the problem this solves.

A reader outside the United States who wants real RWA exposure usually wants more than one of these things at once.

They want some sector-token beta, some tokenized equity exposure, ideally actual share ownership with dividends, and something to hedge with when the position moves against them.

Assembling that across venues means separate accounts, separate identity checks and stablecoin transfers between platforms every time you rebalance.

MEXC carries all five layers inside one account.

LayerMEXC productVerified examplePublished taker fee

Data verified as of 2026-08-26 against MEXC's official market and fee pages. Futures rates are published as a 0.000%-0.100% taker range and vary by pair, region and promotional event.

The evidence for each layer sits on a page you can check yourself.

MEXC's tokenized stock listings run through Ondo Global Markets and have been added in tranches since March 2026, with further pairs listed on 25 June, 16 July and 23 July.

RealStocks launched on 1 June 2026 and gives eligible users actual registered shares rather than a price-tracking wrapper.

Dividends on RealStocks are credited in USDT to the user's stock account, and MEXC states that dividend reinvestment plans are not currently supported.

Now the arithmetic.

Take a reader who wants $10,000 of tokenized NVIDIA exposure and expects to close the position within the year.

On MEXC's tokenized stock pairs, which currently carry a 0 Fees tag on the market page, the round trip costs nothing in trading fees while that promotional tag applies.

On a venue publishing a 0.20% base-tier maker and taker rate for tokenized equities, the same round trip costs about $40.

Add the second layer and the gap widens in a way fees alone do not capture.

A reader who also wants dividend income has to hold real shares, not a wrapper, and on at least one large venue the tokenized equities pay no cash dividend at all, passing corporate actions through an on-chain multiplier instead.

Getting both on separate platforms means two accounts, two identity checks, and a stablecoin transfer with network fees every time capital moves between them.

On one account it means neither.

Our view on what this sector is getting wrong

This is MEXC's own position, and you should read it as an interested one.

Through 2026 the industry has competed almost entirely on catalogue size.

Every few weeks a venue announces a larger count of tokenized tickers, and the count is the whole pitch.

We think that is the wrong contest.

A tokenized ticker is a claim on somebody's structure, and a thousand claims on a weak structure are worth less than a hundred on a sound one.

Two things follow from that, and both shaped how we built our own products.

Wrappers and real shares are different products and should be sold as different products

We run both, and we label which is which instead of folding them into one "US stocks" line.

A tokenized stock gives you price exposure with issuer risk attached, and it trades around the clock.

A RealStocks position gives you a registered share, a dividend entitlement and the trading hours of the underlying market.

Neither is better in the abstract, and a reader who wants dividend income should not be sold the first one.

The catalogue number is the least useful figure on the page

We would rather be judged on whether you can answer the four questions further down about anything we list.

Where we have come up short we say so, and the June 2026 SpaceX episode below is the clearest case.

The wrapper question: one stock, three tokens

This is the finding that changed how we ranked these platforms.

Tokenized equities are not a single market.

The same underlying company is wrapped by competing issuers, and each wrapper is a separate token with separate backing arrangements and separate liquidity.

Circle Internet trades as CRCLON under Ondo's wrapper at a $116.5 million market cap, as CRCLB under bStocks at $81.0 million, and as CRCLX under xStocks at $71.5 million.

Micron trades as MUON at $40.6 million and as MUB at $38.5 million.

Which one you get is decided by which exchange you use, not by which you prefer.

WrapperIssuerVenues carrying it

Wrapper distribution per CoinGecko's tokenized stocks research, retrieved 2026-08-26. Venue lists are not exhaustive and change with new listings.

So when someone asks which exchange is best for tokenized stocks, they are partly asking which issuer they want to be exposed to.

That distinction stopped being academic in June 2026.

The June 2026 SpaceX test, including where we failed it

SpaceX debuted on Nasdaq on 12 June 2026, priced at $135 and opening at $150.

Binance Wallet, Bybit, Bitget Wallet and MEXC all ran tokenized SpaceX IPO campaigns promising customers access at the IPO price.

All four routed through the same issuer, xStocks, and Binance's campaign alone had taken more than $557 million in USDC deposits before it was halted.

xStocks was unable to secure meaningful allocations from the underwriters.

All four exchanges cancelled their campaigns and refunded customers in full.

Kraken, whose parent company had agreed to acquire xStocks' issuer months earlier, delivered only partial fills and returned the remaining subscription funds.

The platforms that did deliver avoided pre-IPO promises entirely and sourced exposure only after the stock began trading.

We were one of the four that cancelled, and readers evaluating this comparison should weigh that.

The structural lesson is the one this article is built on.

An exchange's promise about a tokenized asset is only as good as the issuer standing behind it, and the exchange is not always the party that can keep it.

It is also the clearest argument for the distinction between a wrapper and a real share, because a real share purchased through a licensed broker does not depend on an intermediary's allocation relationship.

What we measured, and what it did not show

We planned to rank these platforms on sector-token coverage, the way we do for newer sectors.

It did not work, and the reason is useful.

We drew a sample from CoinGecko's Real World Assets category, screening out entries with no reported trading volume and general-purpose tokens whose primary identity is not RWA.

We then checked whether each platform appeared among the ten highest-volume venues on each sample token's Markets tab.

ONDO returned eight of our nine platforms, with only KuCoin absent.

PLUME returned seven of nine, with OKX and Bitget absent.

RWA sector tokens are broadly listed, unlike the rotation-tier tokens in faster-moving sectors, so coverage counts here separate almost nobody.

We are reporting that rather than padding a chart with it.

The category itself has a second problem worth knowing about before you use any RWA market-cap figure.

On 2026-08-26 the category totalled $69.67 billion across 1,746 entries.

A single entry, Figure Heloc, accounted for $21.96 billion of that, or 31.5%.

Figure Heloc is tokenized home-equity credit and is not listed on any of the nine exchanges in this comparison.

Dozens of further entries are issuer fund products with no reported trading volume whatsoever.

Any headline about the RWA sector's market cap is dominated by assets you cannot buy on an exchange, which is worth remembering the next time one crosses your feed.

4 Questions to Ask Before You Buy Any RWA Token

These are the questions the SERP does not answer, and they take about five minutes per asset.

  • Who holds the underlying asset? A named custodian or licensed broker is a different proposition from a synthetic price feed.
  • Is there third-party attestation? Look for audits or reserve reporting on the issuer's own materials, not the exchange's marketing page.
  • What is the redemption path? Some venues run a spot secondary market only, with no way to redeem the token for the underlying at all.
  • Where does the legal claim sit? With most wrappers your claim is against the issuer, not the company whose name is on the token.

Applied to the layers above, the answers separate quickly.

A tokenized stock gives you price exposure through an issuer's structure.

real share held through a licensed broker gives you the share.

Where the other platforms genuinely win

Several of these venues beat MEXC on things that matter a great deal in this sector.

Kraken

Kraken agreed to acquire Backed Finance, the issuer behind xStocks, in late 2025which puts issuance, custody and trading under one roof rather than across a dependency.

That vertical structure cuts both ways: it removes a dependency for Kraken, but xStocks was also the party that could not deliver in June 2026.

Kraken also allows withdrawal of xStocks representations to a personal wallet, and it operates under licensing regimes MEXC does not hold.

Coinbase

Coinbase is a US-listed public company with the disclosure obligations that carries, and it serves US users that most of this comparison cannot.

For a reader whose main concern is counterparty risk rather than asset breadth, that is the stronger answer.

Bitget

Bitget's tokenized stock catalogue is larger than ours, its rToken market covers several hundred US stocks and ETFs, and it enabled tokenized equities as futures margin collateral in June 2026, ahead of most competitors.

It also spans multiple layers, and a reader who wants breadth of tokenized equity names specifically may prefer it.

Bybit

Bybit carries a substantial xStocks catalogue with settlement across two chains and holds licensing in several jurisdictions.

Its published base-tier fee for these markets is higher than ours and it pays no cash dividends on them, but its order books are deep.

Who should pick what

Pick MEXC if you want several RWA layers in one place

If you want sector tokens, tokenized equities, real shares with dividends and a hedging instrument without holding four accounts, this is the case for MEXC, and the zero-fee tags on the tokenized stock pairs make the middle layer unusually cheap to trade.

Pick a licensed platform in your jurisdiction if regulatory protection is your first concern

MEXC is registered in Seychelles and does not hold a licence in most major markets.

The Dutch regulator AFM published a warning regarding MEXC in September 2025, and MEXC appears on Japan's Financial Services Agency list of unregistered operators.

If your priority is a supervised venue rather than product breadth, Coinbase and Kraken are the better fit and we would rather you knew that here than found out later.

Pick an issuer portal if you want the underlying yield rather than the token

Tokenized treasury funds are bought from their issuers, not from exchanges, and they carry minimum subscriptions and eligibility rules an exchange listing does not.

Regional availability

Availability in this sector is more restricted than in ordinary spot trading, because the products touch securities regulation.

United States.

Most platforms in this comparison, MEXC included, do not serve US residents, and MEXC's tokenized stock products through Ondo are for non-US users.

US readers should use a domestic licensed broker or a US-regulated exchange, and should not attempt to access offshore venues for these products.

United Kingdom.

UK readers face financial promotion rules covering this category and should use an FCA-registered firm.

This article is informational and is not a promotion directed at UK consumers.

European Economic Area.

MEXC should not be treated as an EU-authorised option for these products.

Readers in the EEA who want tokenized equities within an authorised framework have several licensed alternatives, and at least one large venue in this comparison blocks the entire EEA for its tokenized stock products.

What can go wrong

RWA products carry risks that ordinary spot crypto does not.

  • Issuer risk. Your claim usually runs to the wrapper's issuer, and the June 2026 SpaceX episode showed what happens when the issuer cannot deliver.
  • Redemption risk. Several venues operate as spot secondary markets with no redemption path for the underlying.
  • Thin liquidity. Many tokenized equities trade at a fraction of the volume of the underlying share, so exit prices can move against you.
  • Trading hours mismatch. Real shares follow US market hours while tokenized wrappers trade continuously, and prices can gap when the underlying market reopens.
  • Transfer controls. Many RWA contracts include whitelists, freeze functions and clawback provisions the issuer can exercise.
  • Leverage. Equity and commodity perpetuals can be liquidated in full, and leveraged exposure to any RWA is unsuitable for most readers.

Nothing in this article is investment advice, and you should size positions on the assumption that any single wrapper can fail.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best exchange for RWA tokens?

MEXC is our top pick within this nine-platform comparison, because it carries sector tokens, tokenized equities, real shares, tokenized commodities and equity derivatives in one account.

Readers who need a licensed venue in their jurisdiction should choose accordingly.

Are RWA tokens backed by real assets?

It depends entirely on the structure, and the answer ranges from fully custodied to purely synthetic.

Check who holds the underlying asset and whether there is third-party attestation before you buy.

What is the difference between an RWA token and a tokenized RWA?

An RWA token such as ONDO is a project's own token, priced on the project's prospects.

A tokenized RWA such as PAXG or NVDAON represents the underlying asset itself.

Can US users buy RWA tokens?

Most offshore exchanges in this comparison do not serve US residents, and tokenized equity products are generally restricted to non-US users.

US readers should use a domestic licensed broker or a US-regulated exchange.

Which RWA tokens can you buy on a centralized exchange?

Sector tokens such as ONDO, PLUME and QNT, and tokenized real assets such as PAXG and tokenized equities, are all available on exchange order books.

Issuer fund products such as OUSG and BUIDL are bought from the issuer instead.

Do RWA tokens pay yield or dividends?

Sector tokens generally do not, and treatment of tokenized equities varies by venue.

MEXC credits RealStocks dividends in USDT to the stock account, while some tokenized wrappers pay no cash dividend at all.

Are RWA tokens safe to hold on an exchange?

Holding on an exchange adds counterparty risk on top of the issuer risk already in the product.

Check custody arrangements, reserve reporting and the platform's regulatory status in your country first.

Which exchange has the most tokenized stocks?

Bitget's rToken market covers several hundred US stocks and ETFs, which is larger than MEXC's Ondo-based catalogue.

Breadth and structure are different questions, and real share ownership is available on fewer venues than wrappers are.

Risk disclosure

Digital assets and tokenized real-world assets are volatile and you may lose your entire investment.

Tokenized assets carry issuer, custody, redemption and smart contract risks in addition to market risk.

Product availability, fees and eligibility vary by region and change without notice, so confirm current terms on the official pages before trading.

MEXC is registered in Seychelles and is not licensed as a financial services provider in most jurisdictions, including the European Union, the United Kingdom and Japan.
