KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia ended higher on Monday, supported by renewed buying interest in banking and plantation counters.

At 5pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 4.48 points, or 0.27%, to 1,683.53 from Friday’s close of 1,679.05.

The benchmark index opened 3.35 points higher at 1,682.40 and moved between 1,678.37 and 1,685.49 throughout the session.

The market breadth was negative, with losers outpacing gainers 620 to 403, while 545 counters were unchanged, 1,082 untraded, and 10 suspended.

Turnover decreased to 2.68 billion units valued at RM1.69 billion from 2.79 billion units valued at RM1.93 billion last Friday.
