Tokenomika Jupiter (JUP)

Jupiter (JUP) is the native governance token for the Jupiter ecosystem, a leading decentralized exchange aggregator on the Solana blockchain. The tokenomics are designed with a 50/50 split between the project team and the community, emphasizing a decentralized ethos without venture capital (VC) involvement.

Issuance and Allocation Mechanism

The maximum supply of JUP is strictly capped at 10,000,000,000 (10 billion) tokens. The initial minting distributed these tokens equally into two primary buckets:

Community Allocation (50%)

The 5 billion tokens dedicated to the community are managed through several initiatives to drive adoption and reward users:

• Airdrops (40% total): Distributed across four rounds. The first round (Airdrop #1) allocated 1 billion tokens (10% of total supply) to users who interacted with the platform before November 2023. Airdrop #2 is slated for 700 million tokens.
• Contributors and Grants (10%): Reserved for ecosystem growth, community contributors, and grant programs.
• Launchpad and Liquidity: Includes 250 million JUP for the initial launch pool and 100 million JUP for launchpad fees (75 million to the DAO and 25 million to the core team).

Team Allocation (50%)

The 5 billion tokens dedicated to the team and operational needs are subdivided as follows:

• Team Members (20%): 2 billion tokens allocated for the core project team.
• Strategic Reserve (20%): 2 billion tokens held for long-term strategic needs.
• Liquidity Provision (10%): 1 billion tokens used for market making and ensuring healthy trading environments across exchanges.

Usage and Incentive Mechanism

The JUP token serves as the primary governance instrument for the Jupiter ecosystem. Token holders are expected to vote on critical ecosystem decisions, including:

• Approving projects for the LFG Launchpad.
• Resolving disputes regarding the "strict list" of verified tokens.
• Authorizing ecosystem grants and treasury expenditures.

Incentives and Rewards:

• Referral Program: Integrators and users can earn fees from swap transactions. Jupiter takes a small 2.5% cut of the platform fees charged by integrators, while the rest is distributed to the referrer.
• JupSOL: While separate from the JUP token itself, Jupiter offers a liquid staking token (JupSOL) that provides native staking yields plus additional MEV (Maximal Extractable Value) rewards returned to holders.
• Active Participation: Incentives are primarily geared toward active users and those contributing to the platform's liquidity and governance rather than passive holders.

Locking and Unlocking Mechanism

Jupiter employs a structured vesting and locking strategy to prevent market supply shocks and ensure long-term alignment.

Locking Mechanisms

• Team Vesting: The 2 billion JUP allocated to team members is subject to a one-year cliff, followed by a two-year linear vesting period.
• Strategic Reserve: This 2 billion JUP allocation is locked for a minimum of one year. The team must provide at least six months' notice to the community before any liquidity event involving these tokens can occur.
• Launch Pool Lock: During the initial token launch, the JUP-USDC DLMM (Dynamic Liquidity Market Maker) pool was locked for seven days to provide price support and initial liquidity.

Unlocking Schedule

The unlocking process is designed to be gradual, with significant portions of the supply becoming liquid through 2027, and minor residual distributions continuing through 2030.

Recent and upcoming unlock data indicates a consistent monthly release of approximately 53,472,222 JUP (roughly 1.5% to 1.6% of circulating supply) throughout 2026. A larger milestone unlock of 200,000,000 JUP is scheduled for January 31, 2027, representing approximately 6.02% of the circulating supply at that time.
